At LVPEI Center for Innovation, we have developed a variety of screening and diagnostic devices. Compact system design for untruly demands of the Imaging and Processing systems is essential to make the devices accessible. If you are a passionate and enthusiastic engineer with strong will to explore and pursue in the area of Medical technologies, Embedded Systems Engineer (ESE) can be a great start. An ESE would be part of developing first of its kind screening and diagnostic devices for the eye. The primary goal of an ESE is to design the blueprint of embedded system according to the requirements. Typically, these systems consist of a processor, camera, LEDs and other electronic sensors. Responsibilities: Rapid prototyping with the off-shelf components to validate an idea / concept. Optimization of electronic circuits and systems to low-power and support compact packaging. Design the embedded systems layout and architecture following IEC standards for manufacturing and deployment. Develop software routines / build and install necessary drivers to interface the electronic sensors to the custom device application. Design the CAD layout for PCB printing following the manufacturing standards. Build Mobile interfaceable systems via micro USB / Bluetooth / Wi-Fi Keep UpToDate with the new electronics chips, single board computers, electronic sensors etc Collaborate with clinicians / subject matter experts to seek domain knowledge Co-ordinate with the manufacturers and suppliers. Conceptualize a development task, its dependencies and map out work flows for an assigned project Basic good work practices of documentation , testing procedures and development logs. Required Skills Strong academic background in Analog and Digital Electronic circuits (Transistor circuits, Op-Amps, Voltage and Current regulator circuits, ADCs and DACs). First Hand experience with 8081 microcontroller, Arduino boards (UNO, Micro, Mega2560 etc) and single board computers like Raspberry Pi. Knowledge in computer architecture, in concepts like Von Neumann architecture, OSI layers and Interfaces (I2C, SPI, USB etc). Experience in PCB designing skills in EAGLE CAD and other web circuit simulators. Ability and willingness to learn on the job and expanding his/her skillset
