Elevator Technician

We are seeking a skilled Elevator Technician to install, maintain, and repair elevator systems in commercial and residential buildings. Responsibilities include routine inspections, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and ensuring compliance with safety codes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install and assemble elevators, escalators, dumbwaiters, and related systems in new or existing buildings.
  
• Perform routine preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on elevator systems.
  
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and schematics.
  
• Test and adjust safety features such as emergency brakes, alarms, doors, and limit switches.
  
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and national elevator codes and safety standards.
  
• Keep accurate maintenance records and service reports.
  
• Replace or repair defective parts such as cables, motors, control systems, and door mechanisms.
  
• Respond to emergency breakdowns and service calls in a timely manner.
  
• Follow safety protocols including lockout/tagout procedures and use of PPE.
  
• Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and supervisors regarding work progress and safety issues.

Required Skills :

• High school diploma or equivalent (technical school a plus).
  
• Completion of a recognized elevator technician apprenticeship program (e.g.,

  NEIEP

  ).
• Valid

  State Elevator Mechanic License

  (if required by jurisdiction).
• Solid knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, hydraulics, and blueprints.
  
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.
  
• Familiarity with tools such as multimeters, hoisting equipment, drills, and hand tools.
  
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  
• Physical ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and lift heavy equipment.
