Position Title: Electrician cum Plumber

Department: Administration / Facilities

Reporting To: Maintenance Manager / Admin Manager

Location: Shraddha Children's Academy, Kottivakkam

1. Position Overview

The Electrician cum Plumber is responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning, safety, and maintenance of all electrical and plumbing systems within the school campus. The role involves conducting routine inspections, performing preventive maintenance, handling repair requests, and responding promptly to emergencies to ensure uninterrupted school operations.

2. Key Roles and Responsibilities

A. Electrical Maintenance

• Install, repair, and maintain wiring, switches, sockets, MCBs, DB boards, lighting fixtures, fans, and electrical appliances.
• Conduct regular inspections of electrical systems to identify potential hazards or faults.
• Handle servicing and minor repairs of equipment such as water heaters, motors, pumps, UPS connections, extension boards, etc.
• Ensure safe load distribution and proper functioning of power supply across the campus.
• Support during events by setting up sound systems, lights, extension lines, and other electrical requirements.
• Maintain logs of electrical issues, repairs, and replacements.

B. Plumbing Maintenance

• Install, repair, and maintain water supply lines, drainage systems, valves, taps, wash basins, toilets, urinals, overhead tanks, and sump pumps.
• Fix leakages, blockages, and plumbing breakdowns promptly.
• Monitor water level in tanks and ensure proper functioning of motors and pumps.
• Maintain the sanitation and plumbing infrastructure in washrooms and kitchen areas.
• Conduct periodic preventive maintenance and inspections to avoid breakdowns.

C. General Maintenance Support

• Assist in minor carpentry, painting, and civil repairs when required.
• Coordinate with external vendors for major electrical or plumbing works.
• Support the admin team during school functions, events, and emergencies.
• Ensure all maintenance tools and materials are in good working condition.

3. Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of electrical circuits, wiring, safety procedures, and plumbing systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot effectively and respond to emergencies.
• Basic knowledge of water pump operations and motor connections.
• Physical fitness to handle manual tasks.
• Time management and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Safety-conscious and disciplined approach to work.

4. Qualifications & Experience

• ITI / Diploma in Electrician or Plumbing (ITI Electrician preferred).
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in electrical and plumbing maintenance, preferably in schools, institutions, or large buildings.
• Working knowledge of school infrastructure maintenance is an added advantage.

5. Working Conditions

• On-site role requiring prompt availability during school hours.
• Occasional after-hours support during emergencies or school events.
• May require weekend availability depending on campus needs.

6. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Timely closure of electrical and plumbing complaints.
• Reduction in breakdowns through preventive maintenance.
• Compliance with safety standards and zero major incidents.
• Proper documentation of maintenance logs.
• Minimal downtime during school operations.
