Electrical Manager - Project

Role & responsibilities

• Project Management:

  Plan, manage, and supervise all electrical aspects of the new extrusion press project from conception to completion. This includes defining project scopes, developing schedules, managing budgets, and overseeing installations.

• Design and Technical Oversight:

  Analyse technical drawings, interpret specifications, and ensure the integration of electrical design with mechanical and architectural plans. Resolve design issues and ensure that technical requirements are met.

• Installation & Commissioning:

  Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of all electrical systems and components, including PLC/automation systems, control panels, power distribution, and related utilities for the extrusion press and supporting equipment (e.g., furnaces, cooling systems).

• Vendor and Contractor Coordination:

  Negotiate with designers, engineers, contractors, and suppliers. Manage vendor relationships and performance, ensuring compliance with project specifications and delivery timelines.

• Safety and Compliance:

  Ensure strict adherence to all health and safety guidelines, electrical codes, and statutory compliance (e.g., ISO, IATF). Conduct risk assessments and implement effective safety measures.

• Maintenance Planning:

  Establish ongoing maintenance schedules and procedures for the new equipment to ensure maximum equipment uptime and reliability.

• Team Leadership:

  Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team (electrical, instrumentation).

• Troubleshooting & Problem Solving:

  Diagnose problems and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions during the project execution and initial operation phases.

Preferred candidate profile

• Education:

  A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is typically required.

• Experience:

  Proven experience in managing engineering projects, preferably within a heavy manufacturing environment like aluminium extrusion, rolling, or casting industries.

• Technical Knowledge:

  Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, hydraulics, furnaces, PLC/automation (SCADA, MES), and power distribution.

• Skills:

  Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and project management skills. Proficiency in using advanced software tools for process management and CAD software is beneficial.
