Electrical Engineer - SMS (Stainless steel melting shop)

Operations & Maintenance

• Monitor and maintain electrical systems of

  Electric Arc Furnace (EAF), Argon Oxygen Decarburization (AOD), Ladle Refining Furnace (LRF), Continuous Casting Machine (CCM)

  and related auxiliaries.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance of transformers, HT/LT panels, VFDs, motors, PLCs, SCADA, MCCs, overhead cranes, hydraulic and control systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical failures to reduce downtime and support stable melting and refining operations.
• Ensure optimal functioning of

  power quality systems

  , electrode regulation systems, and furnace automation.

Safety & Statutory Compliance

• Adhere to electrical safety standards, ISO, internal SOPs, and legal compliances.
• Implement LOTO procedures before maintenance activities.
• Conduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and maintain a safe work environment in high-temperature, high-load zones of SSMS.

Process & Continuous Improvement

• Participate in improvement projects for reducing power consumption, increasing equipment reliability, and enhancing process automation.
• Support installation, commissioning, and upgradation of new electrical systems, control panels, and energy-efficient equipment.
• Analyze chronic issues, propose corrective actions, and implement long-term solutions.

Documentation & Coordination

• Maintain preventive maintenance records in SAP, breakdown history, equipment manuals, and electrical diagrams.
• Prepare daily shift reports, logbooks, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate with production, mechanical, instrumentation, and utility teams to ensure smooth plant operations.

Qualification & Experience

• Diploma / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering

• 2-8 years

  experience in electrical maintenance of Stainless Steel Melting Shop or similar steel plants
