Electrical Engineer (SMS)

Job Title: Electrical Engineer – SMS 3 Department: Steel Melting Shop – 3 (SMS 3) Site: Bhilai Steel Plant Job Summary: Bhilai Steel Plant is seeking a proactive and technically sound Electrical Engineer to join its SMS 3 (Steel Melting Shop – 3) division. The engineer will be responsible for ensuring smooth operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of electrical systems and instrumentation across melting furnaces, converters, cranes, and allied plant equipment. The role is crucial in supporting uninterrupted steel production and safety standards. Key Responsibilities: Supervise and maintain electrical and instrumentation systems of the SMS 3 unit, including EOT cranes, ladle furnaces, converters, and power distribution panels. Conduct preventive and breakdown maintenance activities with minimum downtime. Monitor and troubleshoot electrical systems, PLCs, drives, and control panels. Coordinate with production and mechanical teams for seamless plant operations. Ensure adherence to safety protocols and energy efficiency norms. Maintain records of maintenance schedules, spares, and system modifications. Participate in root cause analysis for recurring faults and implement corrective actions. Support installation and commissioning of new equipment and systems. Report to the area in-charge regarding system performance, breakdowns, and improvement plans. Qualifications: Education: B.Tech/B.E. in Electrical , Instrumentation , or Electronics Engineering , or Diploma in Electrical , Instrumentation , or Electronics Engineering from a recognized institute. Experience: Minimum 2–5 years (preferred) in a steel plant or heavy industrial electrical maintenance environment. Freshers with strong academic and internship backgrounds may also be considered.
