Electrical Design Engineer (Solar)

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

- Design and develop detailed electrical layouts, wiring diagrams, and single-line diagrams for solar PV systems using AutoCAD

- Create designs for roof-mount and ground-mount systems, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and permitting requirements

- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and installation teams to deliver complete design packages

- Revise drawings based on project updates or authority feedback

- Ensure designs meet industry standards, maximize energy production, and adhere to safety and regulatory requirements

Requirements:

- Minimum 3 years of professional AutoCAD experience, preferably in electrical or solar design

- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, technical drawings, and solar PV system components

- Ability to deliver accurate, code-compliant designs with minimal supervision

- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

- Experience with solar PV systems, energy storage design, and industry-standard software like Aurora Solar, Open Solar, or Helioscope is a plus

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with solar panel design, installation, and maintenance

- Knowledge of NEC, utility interconnection standards, and local building codes

- NABCEP certification or similar solar industry credentials

- Background in structural or electrical drafting related to solar

- Proficiency in 2D and 3D AutoCAD, Revit, and other design software
