Job Summary

The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and delivering electrical power distribution systems using ETAP. The role involves preparing detailed engineering documents, performing power system studies, and ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards. The engineer will coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and support both design and project execution activities.

Technical Skills:

• Strong hands-on experience with ETAP for power system studies.
• Solid knowledge of

  IEC electrical standar

  ds, including IEC 60364, IEC 61439, and IEC 62305.
• Strong understanding of international electrical standards such as

  IEEE

  ,

  NEC

  , and

  NFPA

  .
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit (optional), and MS Office.
• Strong analytical and report-writing skills.
• Good communication and team coordination abilities.
• Knowledge of protection relays, SCADA, PLC, and control systems.
• Familiarity with energization procedures and commissioning activities.
• ETAP certification (optional but a strong advantage).

Electrical System Design

• Design LV/MV electrical distribution systems including switchgear, transformers, UPS, generators, busways, panels, grounding systems, and cabling.
• Prepare single-line diagrams (SLD), load schedules, cable sizing, voltage drop calculations, and protective device selection.
• Develop layouts: power, lighting, grounding, earthing, and cable routing.
• Ensure system designs comply with IEC, IEEE, NEC, NFPA, and project-specific standards.

ETAP Analysis & Simulations

• Perform power system studies using ETAP, such as:
• Load Flow Analysis
• Short Circuit Analysis
• Motor Starting Studies
• Arc Flash Analysis
• Protective Relay Coordination & Time-Current Curves
• Harmonics Analysis (optional)
• Prepare detailed study reports with recommendations for system improvements and protection settings.

Coordination & Interface

• Collaborate with mechanical, civil, instrumentation, and control teams to ensure seamless integration.
• Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and technical discussions.
• Coordinate with suppliers and contractors for technical clarifications and equipment selection.

Documentation & Deliverables

• Prepare design drawings, BOQs, technical specifications, and data sheets.
• Review vendor documents, technical offers, and compliance statements.
• Create calculation packages, protection setting sheets, and engineering reports.
• Exposure in predesign manhour estimation and preparation of stagewise deliverables
• Experience of working on Common data environments like BLUEBEAM, ACC, Drop Box, ProjectWise (collaborative tools to work on a model)

Construction & Commissioning Support

• Review shop drawings, construction procedures, and testing & commissioning plans.
• Provide site support during installation, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Assist with FAT/SAT, relay testing, and system energization activities.
