Job Purpose

The EHS Senior Executive is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving Environment, Health & Safety systems to ensure compliance with legal requirements, company standards, and best industry practices. The role supports the creation of a safe workplace, prevention of accidents, and promotion of environmental sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

Environment (E)

  • Ensure compliance with environmental laws, permits, and statutory requirements
  • Monitor air, water, waste, and hazardous material management
  • Coordinate environmental audits, inspections, and reporting to authorities
  • Implement waste reduction, recycling, and pollution control initiatives
  • Maintain environmental records, returns, and documentation

Health (H)

  • Promote occupational health programs and employee wellbeing initiatives
  • Coordinate medical check-ups, health surveillance, and hygiene monitoring
  • Identify workplace health hazards and recommend control measures
  • Support ergonomics, industrial hygiene, and exposure monitoring

Safety (S)

  • Implement and enforce safety policies, procedures, and SOPs
  • Conduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and job safety analyses (JSA)
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses; prepare reports and CAPAs
  • Organize safety training, toolbox talks, mock drills, and awareness programs
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and compliance with safe work practices

Compliance & Systems

  • Ensure compliance with Factories Act / OSHA / local EHS regulations
  • Support ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and other EHS management systems
  • Assist in internal and external audits and closure of observations
  • Maintain EHS documentation, registers, permits, and licenses

Coordination & Communication

  • Coordinate with production, maintenance, contractors, and HR teams
  • Liaise with government authorities, auditors, and external agencies
  • Support contractor safety management and induction programs

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of EHS laws and regulations
  • Risk assessment and hazard identification
  • Incident investigation and root cause analysis
  • Training and communication skills
  • Documentation and reporting
  • Problem-solving and proactive mindset

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Science / Engineering / Environmental / Safety
  • Diploma or certification in Industrial Safety (preferred)
  • 36 years of relevant EHS experience (can vary by organization)
  • Experience in manufacturing / construction / pharma / industrial sector preferred
