Job Title: Editorial Assistant Open Access Publishing

Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Editorial Assistant to support our editorial teams within an Open Access (OA) publishing environment. The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, a solid understanding of scholarly publishing, and an interest in open science, research workflows, and digital content management.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in managing the peer-review workflow, including assigning reviewers, tracking manuscripts, and communicating with authors, editors, and reviewers
  
• Ensure manuscripts meet journal guidelines, ethical standards, and open access policies (e.g., CC licenses, data availability requirements)
  
• Conduct preliminary quality checks on submissions for formatting, completeness, and adherence to author guidelines
  
• Support academic editors by preparing decision letters, reviewer invitations, and follow-up correspondence
  
• Maintain manuscript records using editorial management systems (e.g., Editorial Manager, ScholarOne, OJS)
  
• Assist with metadata accuracy, DOI assignment, and digital archiving
  
• Prepare content for publication, including formatting figures/tables and ensuring accessibility compliance
  
• Monitor open access publishing trends, funder policies (e.g., Plan S, NIH), and repository requirements
  

Preferred Candidate:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
  
• Experience or familiarity with scholarly publishing, peer review processes, or academic research workflows
  
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  
• Experience with editorial submission systems preferred (ScholarOne, Editorial Manager, OJS, etc.)
  
• Understanding of Creative Commons licensing, open access models, and research integrity guidelines (COPE, ICMJE) is a plus

Qualifications

• Masters from Science Background is preferred.
