Economist - Research

About the Role:

• We are hiring an Economist - Research for a leading brokerage firm in Mumbai.
• The role involves deep macroeconomic analysis, tracking high-frequency economic indicators, and producing actionable insights for internal stakeholders and external clients.
• The position requires strong research rigor, economic modeling skills, and the ability to translate complex macro data into market-relevant perspectives.

Key Responsibilities

Macroeconomic Research

• - Conduct in-depth research on domestic and global macroeconomic trends including growth, inflation, monetary & fiscal policy, trade, and capital flows.
• - Track and analyze high-frequency economic indicators (PMI, CPI/WPI, IIP, GDP, yields, liquidity, FX, global macro data).
• - Develop macro frameworks and economic forecasts to support market views.

Research & Publications

• - Prepare high-quality research notes, reports, and presentations for internal teams and external clients.
• - Contribute to thematic macro pieces, policy impact notes, and event-driven research.
• - Ensure research is data-driven, well-structured, and aligned with market realities.

Stakeholder & Market Interaction

• - Work closely with sales, trading, strategy, and leadership teams to provide macro insights.
• - Support client interactions, investor calls, and internal discussions as required.
• - Respond to ad-hoc research requests from senior stakeholders.

Data & Analytics

• - Use economic data, statistical tools, and models to analyze trends and scenarios.
• - Maintain and update macro dashboards, trackers, and forecasting models.

Experience

• - 5-8 years of relevant experience in macroeconomic research.
• - Prior experience in brokerage firms, sell-side research, banks, global research firms, think tanks, or policy institutions preferred.

Education (Full-Time Only)

• - PhD in Economics OR
• - Masters / MSc in Economics / Econometrics OR
• - MBA (Finance / Economics) from a Tier-1 institute (India or Global)
