Drawing fitter

Job Purpose: To interpret and work on structural fabrication drawings (beam, column, girder, etc.), mark dimensions, and assemble/fabricate steel structures accurately as per design, ensuring quality and safety standards are maintained. --- Key Responsibilities: Read and interpret structural fabrication drawings (beam, column, girder, truss, bracing, etc.). Mark dimensions on raw materials (MS plates, channels, beams, angles) as per drawing. Perform fitting and assembly of structural members before welding. Check alignment, squareness, and tolerances using measuring instruments (tape, square, level, vernier calipers, etc.). Ensure fabrication is done according to shop drawings and approved standards. Assist welders by providing proper fit-up and tack welding as required. Follow safety guidelines while handling gas cutting, grinding, and fitting tools. Maintain cleanliness and proper stacking of fabricated components. Report material shortages, technical drawing issues, or discrepancies to the supervisor. Support in quality inspection of finished structures before dispatch. --- Skills & Competencies: Ability to read and understand structural fabrication drawings. Knowledge of beam, column, girder, and truss assembly. Hands-on experience in gas cutting, grinding, and fit-up tools. Understanding of welding symbols and tolerances. Good measurement and alignment skills. Awareness of safety practices in fabrication shop/yard. --- Qualification & Experience: 2–5 years of experience in structural fabrication/drawing fitting. Experience in fabrication of PEB (Pre-Engineered Buildings), steel structures, or heavy fabrication will be preferred.
