Role Summary
The Director – Finance & Accounts (Controller) will be responsible for driving financial integrity, accuracy, and compliance across all finance and accounting operations. This strategic leadership role oversees financial reporting, internal controls, regulatory compliance, cash flow management, and risk mitigation for MSM Unify. The position serves as a key financial steward—ensuring robust governance, fiscal discipline, and strategic insights that enable sustainable growth and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations
Oversee the preparation and accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with Indian GAAP, Canadian GAAP, US GAAP, IFRS, and internal policies.
Ensure timely and accurate period-end closings, reconciliations, and ledger maintenance.
Supervise end-to-end accounting functions, including accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger operations.
Implement, review, and update accounting policies and procedures in line with internal and external standards.
2. Internal Controls & Compliance
Design, implement, and maintain a strong internal control framework to safeguard assets and minimize risks.
Ensure full compliance with statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements (GST, TDS, ROC, Income Tax, etc.).
Serve as the primary liaison with statutory, internal, and tax auditors.
Stay updated with evolving accounting standards and regulatory developments impacting operations.
3. Cash Flow & Treasury Management
Optimize working capital, oversee treasury operations, and manage liquidity to support business requirements.
Lead banking relationships, fund management, and intercompany transactions.
Forecast and monitor cash flow to ensure financial stability and agility.
4. Risk Management
Identify and mitigate financial, operational, and compliance risks.
Develop, implement, and monitor risk control frameworks ensuring organizational resilience and business continuity.
5. Financial Planning, Analysis & Budgeting
Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with business units.
Analyze financial performance, monitor variances, and provide actionable insights to management.
Prepare financial dashboards and board-level reports to support strategic decision-making.
Partner with leadership to assess financial implications of business initiatives and investments.
6. Process Automation & Technology
Drive digitization and automation of finance processes using ERP systems and analytics tools.
Ensure efficiency and accuracy through technology-enabled financial reporting.
Champion continuous improvement and process standardization across finance operations.
7. Team Leadership & Collaboration
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance and accounting team.
Foster collaboration across cross-functional teams including Legal, HR, Technology, and Operations.
Promote a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous learning within the finance function.
Required Qualifications & Competencies
Chartered Accountant (CA) or MBA (Finance) or equivalent qualification.
12–18 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with substantial experience in a controllership or equivalent leadership role.
Deep expertise in financial reporting, general ledger management, audits, and internal controls.
Strong knowledge of Indian GAAP, Canadian GAAP, US GAAP, IFRS, and taxation frameworks.
Experience in managing multi-entity, multi-currency operations and international financial consolidations.
Proficiency in Tally ERP, Zoho Books, MS Excel, and financial analytics tools.
Demonstrated experience in leading audits, managing compliance, and implementing financial automation initiatives.
Prior experience in EdTech, multinational services, or other high-growth sectors preferred.
Excellent analytical, leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Strong documentation and policy development capabilities.
Ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced, and multicultural environment.
