Direct Material Buyer

Role Overview: You will be working as a Direct Material Buyer in the Central Purchase team at SKF, supporting strategic and operational procurement activities for direct materials. Your main responsibilities will include performing local purchasing, managing steel delivery operations, coordinating with suppliers and internal stakeholders, tracking supplier performance, supporting scrap activities, category management, and developing new suppliers. Key Responsibilities: - Perform operational purchasing for steel materials - Act as the single point of contact for managing steel delivery operations - Coordinate with Tier 1 suppliers, mills, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely deliveries - Utilize data and analytics to provide early warning signals - Continuously track supplier performance and support scrap activities - Provide operational support for development activities and coordinate with the finance team - Manage the Heat Treatment category individually - Support the Category Manager for strategic and operational activities for Rings and Components - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure strategy execution and support the development of new suppliers Qualifications Required: - Bachelor of Engineering or B.Tech. degree - 4-8 years of relevant techno-commercial experience in the automotive or industrial sectors - 2+ years of sourcing and procurement experience with a focus on quality, cost, and delivery - Strong ownership, attention to detail, and understanding of procurement processes - Good commercial sense, PMO skills, and ability to work with data - Excellent communication and teamwork skills - Preferred experience as a steel buyer with exposure to Heat Treatment If you are interested in this position, please share your updated profile with supriya.joshi@skf.com.
