JOB DESCRIPTION Position Overview: The Fuel & DEF System Design engineer will utilize standard engineering methods and procedures when performing engineering tasks on a basic complexity level and according to given conditions such as function, geometry, cost, quality, regulations, etc. Candidate is expected to follow established activity plans and processes when supporting a project or engineering process. Although CAD documentation makes out a part of the ordinary work, the designer is expected to be able to develop technical solutions and add an engineering perspective to the documentation. In this role you would be expected to interact with various stakeholders for selection & maturity of finalize concept like commodity Supplier, Purchase, Supplier Development, Vehicle Testing, Manufacturing, Interface Design functions etc. The outcome of regular interactions will determine the likelihood of success rate of yearly targets. The role is primarily for Internal Combustions Engines with various types of fuels like diesel, CNG, LNG, H2 ICE etc Additionally you will also be designing the plumbing / piping circuit either mounted on Engine or Chassis for fuel line & DEF lines. These parts would be build to print in nature. Occasionally the role will also demand additional heat load of Vehicle AC, Automatic Transmission or Retarders depending on project needs. Key Responsibilities: Fuel System & DEF System Design: Design and develop system components and subcomponents. Includes Creation of CAD Models, Part Drawings, and Installation Drawings using NX. Perform CAD documentation within a technical area, including packaging verification and creating and documenting product structure. design of Fuel & DEF (Urea / Ad Blue) Tanks along with mounting arrangements. level & quality sensors along with filters used in circuit. Product Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including supplier partners, electrical engineers, and manufacturing personnel, to develop new system concepts. Coordinate the design process, prototype development, and testing to validate and refine designs as to follow general OEM processes. Integration and Compatibility: Work closely with vehicle integration and other operation teams to ensure proper integration of the cooling system with other vehicle components. Address compatibility issues and collaborate on system-level optimizations. Performance Simulation/Optimization: Conduct performance analysis and simulations to optimize system's performance. Utilize 1D or equivalent thermal tools, CFD & CAE to predict system performance and structural behavior and validate design improvements. Component level FEA analysis using 3D modelling CAD tool additional modules. Testing and Validation: As part of CFT, support in defining test plans, procedures, and protocols system testing. Conduct physical testing, including component-level and full-system testing, to validate performance, durability, and compliance with safety standards. Analyze test results, identify areas for improvement, and implement design modifications accordingly. Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed engineering documentation, including technical specifications, design drawings, engineering reports, and test results. Communicate project progress, design recommendations, and technical information effectively to cross-functional teams and management. Follow up quality status, participate in Design Reviews, perform risk analysis, root cause analysis, and FMEAs. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements related to cooling systems. Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement in suspension system design and performance. Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical / Automobile Engineering or a related field. Proven experience in designing and developing Fuel systems for trucks, passengers or heavy-duty vehicles. Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, Siemens NX (In case candidate is not familiar with NX, others such as CATIA, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD is ok) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform engineering calculations and simulations. Knowledge of structural analysis, and vibration analysis. Experience with CAE tools, such as finite element analysis (FEA) and thermal simulations is desirable. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams. Strong project management abilities, including the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Note: This job description is a general overview and may be subject to change based on the specific requirements of the company and projects. Professional Experience: 3 to 7 years of experience in specified field is desirable. 3D modelling & 2D drafting skills for sheet metal, castings, piping modules; NX is preferable. Experience, no bar for highly skilled candidate. Candidates with good exposure with different aggregates with automotive structural engineering knowledge can also apply. Experience in other areas like Exhaust System (piping & bracket), Cooling System, Air Intake would be additional advantage.
