Design Manager - SPM

Key Skills & Core Responsibilities

1. Concept Control & Validation

• Directly responsible

  for ensuring

  3D design does not start without concept sign-off

  .

• Verify team understanding of concepts

  ; ensure clarity, documentation, and sign-off.

• Implement and validate

  checksheets, systems, and development plans (new & existing).

2. Planning, Budgeting & Project Control

• Create and control

  Timeplans, 2-week plans, Man-day tracking

  , and

  budget

  during concept phase.
• Ensure concept and execution align with

  overall project timeline and budget

  .
• Conduct

  monthly, quarterly, yearly reviews

  (Plan vs Actual) and drive

  departmental improvements

  .

3. Mechanical Design & Engineering Excellence

• Strong expertise in

  fixture design

  and

  automation machine construction

  .
• Proficient in

  design calculations, mechanism selection, variant handling

  , and BOM finalization.
• Knowledge of

  Hydraulics, Pneumatics, and standard part selection

  .

4. CAD & Simulation Tools

• Mastery in

  Solid Edge, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor

  .
• Experienced in

  simulation tools

  (FEA, CFD) for behavior prediction under various conditions.

5. Drawing & Documentation Management

• Responsible for

  GDT, tolerance stack-ups, design drawing validation

  , and version/revision control (R1, R2, R3).
• Ensure updated drawings are

  circulated and stored on server

  with standard folder structure.
• Manage

  technical documents

  like manuals, service procedures, and customer deliverables.

6. BOM, RFQ & SAP Validation

• Validate

  customer 2D/3D, Sales BOM, RFQ, and SAP BOM

  .
• Handle

  simulation, bought-out selection, and make

  decisions based on customer needs.

7. Cross-functional & Customer Coordination

• Manage

  technical communication with customers and suppliers

  .
• Coordinate with

  purchase, vendor, assembly, and electrical teams

  to resolve project issues.
• Ensure

  deviation approvals

  , readiness for reviews, and

  circulation of MOM/OPL

  .

8. RCA, OPL & Issue Closure

• Lead

  root cause analysis (RCA), 5 Why, 8D

  , and implement

  lesson learned

  systems.
• Ensure

  OPL closure within 24 hours

  , track status, and control as per PJM target dates.

9. Team Management & Training

• Control

  absenteeism

  , daily task tracking, and enforce

  discipline & 5S

  on shop floor.
• Develop and execute

  monthly training plans

  ; track results and improvements.
• Motivate team to maintain a

  positive, high-performance environment

  .

10. Leadership, Strategy & Execution

• Translate client goals into

  innovative mechanical designs

  .
• Lead mechanical projects from

  concept to commissioning

  .
• Drive

  decision-making with clear conclusions

  , avoiding open-ended discussions.
