Design Engineer-Closures & Mechanisms

Role Overview: As a Design Engineer-Closures & Mechanisms, you will be responsible for generating CATIA V5 Body Engineering CAD concepts and solutions for Hood Fender, Tailgate & Latching System projects. Your main focus will be on the design and development of Bonnet (Hood), Fender, Tailgate, and Latching System components. You will work on ensuring manufacturing feasibility, managing clearance with interface parts, and escalating any unresolved issues to the Lead Engineer. Additionally, you will be involved in identifying risks, ensuring project deliverables are met, and maintaining data accuracy throughout the design process. Key Responsibilities: - Create CAD geometry and drawings for various closure projects - Design and develop Bonnet (Hood), Fender, Tailgate, and Latching System components - Provide CAD support and progress designs as per program timescales - Check and manage clearance with interface parts - Ensure manufacturing feasibility of parts - Escalate unresolved issues to Lead Engineer - Identify risks to the program - Communicate effectively at all levels - Utilize CATIA V5 extensively - Demonstrate good design skills, especially in Bonnet (Hood), Fender, Tailgate, and Latching System - Have a successful history of delivery in the automotive sector - Utilize Team Centre Engineering (TCE) - Possess engineering knowledge of component/system design, function, performance, production, and manufacturing requirements - Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Project, Power Point, Excel, and Word Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field - 5-7 years of experience in CAD engineering, specifically using CATIA V5 - Strong PC literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Project, Power Point, Excel, and Word (Note: Additional details about the company were not provided in the job description),
