Job Summary:

Design Engineer (Butterfly Valve Specialist)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop

    butterfly valves

    (wafer, lug, double offset, triple offset types) in accordance with

    API 609

    and related standards.
  • Create

    3D models and 2D drawings

    using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, or Inventor).
  • Conduct

    design calculations

    for pressure ratings, torque, Cv, leakage class, and material thickness as per ASME and API codes.
  • Prepare

    Bill of Materials (BOMs)

    and support the procurement and production teams during prototype and production phases.
  • Perform

    FEA (Finite Element Analysis)

    or collaborate with simulation teams for stress, deformation, and flow analysis.
  • Support

    testing and validation

    (hydrostatic, pneumatic, and functional testing) of prototype valves.
  • Review and ensure compliance with

    API monogram

    and other relevant quality system requirements.
  • Participate in

    DFMEA, DVP&R

    , and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide

    technical support

    for customer inquiries, vendor development, and documentation for tenders or project approvals.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering

    or related discipline.
  • 2–7 years of experience

    in the design and development of

    industrial butterfly valves

    .
  • Strong understanding of

    API 609

    ,

    ASME B16.34

    , and relevant valve design codes.
  • Hands-on experience with

    3D CAD design tools

    (SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD, etc.).
  • Familiarity with

    valve components

    ,

    sealing mechanisms

    , and

    materials of construction

    (carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex, etc.).
  • Knowledge of

    manufacturing processes

    such as casting, machining, and assembly.
  • Exposure to

    testing standards

    and

    quality assurance procedures

    in an API-approved environment.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in

    FEA or CFD analysis

    related to valve design.
  • Working knowledge of

    ERP systems

    and

    PDM tools

    .
  • Involvement in

    new product development (NPD)

    projects for high-performance or custom valves.
  • Familiarity with

    ATEX, SIL, or fire-safe certification requirements

    (optional but advantageous).
