Design Engineer

Key Purpose of the Role

The Product Development Engineer / Senior Product Development Engineer is responsible for the design and development of subsystems, components, and product packages. The role involves design integration, feasibility studies, proto-manufacturing support, and cross-functional coordination to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery.

Key Responsibilities;

• Design & develop mechanical subsystems and components using CAD tools (SolidWorks, Pro-E/Creo, AutoCAD).
• Deliver projects as per timeline, quality, and cost targets.
• Conduct design reviews and apply DFM/DFA/DFS best practices.
• Support prototype development, testing, validation, and design refinement.
• Review and update engineering documents, drawings, BOMs, specifications, and reports.
• Work with simulation teams (CFD/FEA) for design verification and incorporate necessary changes.
• Lead or support cost optimization, design improvement and benchmarking studies.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, Testing, and Supplier teams for smooth execution.
• Support engineering change requests (ECR) and technical issue resolution.
• Ensure First Time Right (FTR) design and adherence to internal NPD processes.

Technical Skills Required;

• Strong expertise in mechanical product design
• Hands-on experience with SolidWorks / Creo / AutoCAD
• Knowledge of material science, machine design, applied mechanics
• Understanding of proto-manufacturing and machining processes
• Good knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up
• Ability to interpret CFD/FEA results is an added advantage
