Design Coordinator

Roles & Responsibilities Design Coordinator (Interior Fit-Out)

1. Design Coordination & Workflow Management

• Coordinate between clients, architects, designers, and project teams to ensure smooth flow of design information.
• Manage design schedules, deliverables, and timelines to meet project milestones.
• Facilitate communication between design, estimation, procurement, and execution teams.

2. Drawing Review & Quality Control

• Review design drawings (layouts, GFC drawings, detail drawings) for accuracy, feasibility, and compliance with project requirements.
• Ensure all drawings follow company standards, local regulations, and technical guidelines.
• Identify discrepancies and initiate corrective actions.

3. Client Interaction & Requirement Gathering

• Conduct design discussions with clients to understand their needs, functional requirements, and aesthetic preferences.
• Capture and document client feedback and ensure alignment with the final design.
• Assist in presenting design concepts, material boards, and samples.

4. Material & Specification Coordination

• Coordinate with material vendors and suppliers to source samples, specifications, and technical data sheets.
• Ensure materials selected meet design intent, cost, and project timelines.
• Support procurement team with design-related inputs.

5. Liaison with Project & Execution Teams

• Provide project teams with updated drawings, revisions, and design clarifications.
• Coordinate design changes based on site conditions and execution feasibility.
• Conduct site visits to review design implementation and highlight corrective measures if needed.

6. Documentation & Version Control

• Maintain a structured database of drawings, revisions, approvals, and correspondence.
• Ensure proper version control and timely issuance of drawings.
• Prepare design reports, transmittals, and coordination logs.

7. Compliance & Approvals

• Ensure all design output adheres to building codes, safety norms, and regulatory guidelines.
• Coordinate with external consultants (MEP, structural, acoustic) for design approvals.
• Support in obtaining client sign-offs at multiple stages.

8. Support in BOQs & Estimations

• Assist estimation team by providing design-based information such as area statements, specifications, and quantities.
• Verify BOQs and ensure alignment with drawings and design intent.

9. Visual Presentation Support

• Prepare or coordinate design presentations, mood boards, and 3D visuals for client pitches.
• Ensure presentations effectively communicate the design concept.

10. Continuous Improvement

• Recommend improvements to design processes, templates, and workflows.
• Stay updated with industry trends, materials, and technologies.

  Role & responsibilities

Preferred candidate profile

Education

• Bachelors degree in

  Interior Design / Architecture / Civil Engineering

  or related field.
• Diploma in Interior Design (with relevant experience) may also be considered.

Experience

• 5–8 years

  of experience in interior design coordination, fit-out projects, or design-build environments.
• Hands-on experience with

  corporate interiors, commercial fit-outs, or turnkey interior projects

  .
• Strong understanding of design development, GFC drawings, detail drawings, and site execution requirements.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in

  AutoCAD

  , SketchUp, Revit (optional), MS Office, and design documentation tools.
• Strong knowledge of materials, specifications, joinery details, and interior construction techniques.
• Ability to read, review, and coordinate architectural, MEP, and civil drawings.
• Understanding of industry standards, local building codes, and compliance requirements.
