The Electrical & Automation Engineer will be part of TSDPLs Central Project Team and will support electrical, automation, and instrumentation activities for new projects, technology upgrades, and modernization across all processing units. The role is critical for ensuring smooth electrical design, installation, and commissioning of equipment used in slitting lines, CTL lines, shearing lines, warehouse automation, material handling, and packaging systems.
This role requires extensive travel to multiple project sites across India.
Prepare and review electrical SLDs, control circuit diagrams, load calculations, cable schedules, and panel drawings.
Develop and support PLC/SCADA logic, HMI screens, safety interlocks, and automation architecture.
Support integration of automation with production systems, safety protocols, and remote monitoring.
Ensure compliance with IS/IEC standards and Tata Steel/TSDPL engineering guidelines.
Lead on-site installation, inspection, testing, and commissioning of electrical panels, drives (VFD/Servo), PLC systems, sensors, instruments, and control wiring.
Conduct FAT/SAT with OEMs and panel manufacturers to ensure technical compliance.
Support commissioning of equipment for coil processing, material handling, cranes, packaging, and warehouse operations.
Troubleshoot electrical/automation issues and ensure stable operation during project start-up.
Coordinate with OEMs, automation vendors, electrical contractors, and engineering consultants.
Work closely with unit operations teams, central engineering, procurement, mechanical and civil teams for seamless execution.
Review vendor documents and ensure compliance with TSDPL specifications.
Ensure adherence to electrical safety, earthing, LOTO, and Tata Steel safety standards.
Maintain proper documentationdrawings, logic programs, O&M manuals, inspection reports, and test certificates.
Support energy-saving initiatives and drive automation improvements across units.
Extensive travel (7080%) to TSDPL locations such as Kalinganagar, Tada, Pantnagar, Jamshedpur, Sahibabad, Chennai, Pune, and upcoming greenfield/brownfield projects.
Availability for extended on-site stays during installation or shutdown activities.
Strong knowledge of PLC/SCADA systems (Siemens).
Hands-on experience with VFDs, servo drives, MCC/PCC panels, HT/LT systems.
Familiarity with industrial communication networksProfinet, Profibus, Modbus, Ethernet/IP.
Experience with sensors, encoders, load cells, limit switches, and industrial instrumentation.
Strong troubleshooting capability for electrical and automation faults.
Ability to interpret electrical drawings and logic diagrams.
B.Tech in Electrical Engineering (mandatory).
25 years of experience in electrical & automation roles in steel processing, manufacturing, heavy engineering, or industrial automation environments.
Experience in multi-location projects or commissioning is preferred.
