OVERVIEW:

The Deputy General Manager Merchandising will lead the end-to-end merchandising and product execution process for key apparel categories, ensuring seamless coordination between buyers, internal teams, and manufacturing units. This role requires strong leadership in customer management, pricing, product development, costing, planning, and on-time delivery. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in jackets, tops, and related woven/knit categories, with the capability to drive business growth and maintain high service excellence for international buyers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the merchandising function for assigned product categories, ensuring smooth sampling, development, order execution, and delivery.
  • Manage buyer relationships, understand seasonal requirements, and provide strategic merchandising insights to support business growth.
  • Oversee the product development cycle, ensuring timely sample submissions, accurate costing, and alignment with customer expectations.
  • Monitor order status, production progress, T&A adherence, and risk mitigation across multiple styles and categories.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration between production, planning, technical, and quality teams to ensure achievable commitments.
  • Conduct costing, price negotiations, and margin analysis to ensure profitability and competitive positioning.
  • Lead a team of merchandisers, providing guidance, performance feedback, and capability development.
  • Analyze market trends, customer demand patterns, and category insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with buyer standards, ethical manufacturing practices, and internal quality norms.
  • Assist in business development efforts, onboarding new buyers, and supporting expansion initiatives when required.

PRE - REQUISITES:

  • Bachelor's degree in Textile & Apparel, Marketing, Business Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum

    08 years of experience

    in apparel merchandising, marketing, or business development.
  • Mandatory experience in

    jackets, tops, woven bottoms and similar categories

    (

    Not intimates/lingerie backgrounds)

  • Current or prior work experience in

    Bangladesh

    or other overseas markets will be an added advantage.
  • Strong customer handling, negotiation, pricing, and product development skills.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional coordination abilities.
  • Willingness to be based in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
