Dental Clinic Assistant

Position Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will support dentists and hygienists during procedures, provide excellent patient care, maintain infection control standards, and ensure the smooth operation of the dental clinic. Key Responsibilities Clinical Assistance Assist the dentist during examinations and dental procedures by preparing instruments, materials, and equipment. Take, process, and mount dental X-rays as directed. Maintain proper sterilization of instruments, trays, and clinical areas according to infection control standards. Ensure patient comfort before, during, and after procedures. Mix and prepare dental materials such as cements, impression materials, and restorative compounds. Manage dental impressions and laboratory tasks as required. Patient Care Greet and seat patients, explaining treatment procedures in a reassuring manner. Record and update patients’ medical and dental histories. Provide oral hygiene instructions and post-treatment care guidance. Take and record vital signs when necessary. Administrative Support Schedule and confirm patient appointments. Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries in a professional and courteous manner. Assist with billing, payment collection, and insurance claims. Maintain dental supply inventory and place orders as required. Safety & Compliance Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control protocols at all times. Maintain clean and organized treatment rooms, sterilization areas, and common spaces. Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous and bio-medical waste. Qualifications & SkillsHigh school diploma or equivalent; certification in Dental Assisting is preferred. Previous experience as a dental assistant is an advantage but not mandatory. Knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, and sterilization techniques. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Compassionate, patient-focused, and detail-oriented. Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in dental software and basic computer applications is an added benefit. Work Environment Dental clinic/office setting. Direct patient interaction. Must follow health and safety standards at all times.
