Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled Mid-Level Database Administrator with a strong specialization in IBM DB2. The ideal candidate will also possess solid experience in other DBMS flavours such as Oracle and SQL Server database administration. This role will be responsible for the effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of database systems, ensuring the highest levels of performance, availability, and security for our diverse range of applications and clients. Key Responsibilities: Database Administration: Install, configure, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot IBM DB2 databases (on Linux/Unix/Windows platforms). Performance Tuning: Analyze, diagnose, and resolve database performance issues, including SQL query optimization, indexing strategies, and database configuration adjustments for DB2, Oracle, and SQL Server. Backup and Recovery: Implement, manage, and test robust backup and recovery strategies for DB2 environments, with experience in Oracle RMAN and SQL Server backups. High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions (e.g., DB2 HADR, Oracle Data Guard, SQL Server AlwaysOn). Security Management: Implement and enforce database security policies, manage user access, and perform regular security audits following company standards. Monitoring: Set up and maintain database monitoring tools and alerts to proactively identify and address potential issues. Patching and Upgrades: Plan, test, and execute database patching and version upgrades for DB2, Oracle, and SQL Server. Storage Management: Manage database storage, ensuring optimal utilization and capacity planning. Troubleshooting: Provide timely and effective resolution to database-related incidents and problems, participating in on-call rotation as required. Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Collaboration: Work closely with application development teams, infrastructure teams, and other IT departments to support application deployments and troubleshoot complex issues. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 3-6 years of progressive experience as a Database Administrator. Strong expertise (3+ years)** in IBM DB2 administration (ideally on Linux/Unix platforms). Demonstrable experience (1-2 years)** in Oracle Database administration. Demonstrable experience (1-2 years)** in Microsoft SQL Server administration. Proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions across different database platforms. Experience with database backup and recovery methodologies. Familiarity with database monitoring tools and best practices. Knowledge of operating systems (Linux/Unix and Windows) as they relate to database environments. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
