Job Title: Database Administrator (DBA) Location: Mumbai Experience: 5 to 7 years Employment Type: Full-Time Joining: Immediate to 30 Days Job Summary We are looking for an experienced and skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain, and optimize SQL-based databases for our client in Mumbai. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in MySQL, PostgreSQL, and/or Sybase IQ/ASE, with a solid foundation in performance tuning and Linux-based environments. Prior experience in Sybase IQ is a significant advantage. Key Responsibilities Administer, monitor, and troubleshoot SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Sybase IQ/ASE). Perform regular backups, restores, patching, and database upgrades. Ensure high availability and disaster recovery configurations. Handle performance tuning, optimization of queries, indexing, and server configuration. Automate routine DBA tasks using shell scripting or cron jobs on Linux. Collaborate with development and DevOps teams for schema design, data migration, and deployment. Maintain database security, compliance, and data integrity. Analyze system logs and maintain accurate documentation. Technical Skills Required Strong SQL knowledge: DML, DDL, stored procedures, views, indexing. Experience with at least two databases among: MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Sybase IQ/ASE. Sybase IQ experience is a plus. Candidates who have worked on Sybase IQ/ASE (even without formal DBA role) will be considered. Hands-on Linux server administration (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu). Proficiency in Bash/Shell scripting. Experience with replication, clustering, and HA configurations. Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, or similar. Knowledge of Git and CI/CD pipelines is a plus. Soft Skills Strong communication and documentation skills. Ability to work independently at the client location. Proactive mindset and problem-solving capabilities. Attention to detail and commitment to reliability. Preferred Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field. Certifications in MySQL, PostgreSQL, Sybase, or Linux (e.g., Red Hat, LPIC) are an advantage. Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) is desirable.
