About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Modeller Senior SME to join BP Energys dynamic Data & Analytics team, specifically supporting the Castrol business unit. As part of our ongoing digital transformation, this role is pivotal in modeling and maintaining curated datasets within the Castrol Data ecosystem. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams across Digital Operational Excellence, Technology, and various Castrol units, including PUs, HUBs, functions, and markets, to ensure the integrity, usability, and strategic value of data assets. This role involves leveraging advanced data modeling techniques, supporting analytics, data science, operational management information, and contributing to the broader digital business strategy. The position offers an exciting opportunity to influence data-driven decision-making processes and foster innovation by utilizing cutting-edge tools such as MLOPS environments, PySpark Pro, Gurobi, and Python-based analytics.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a degree in an analytical field such as IT, engineering, or a related discipline, or have at least five years of relevant experience in data modeling and analytics. Proven expertise in delivering complex data models and curated datasets for large-scale transformation projects is essential. A broad understanding of multiple data domains and their integration points is required, along with strong problem-solving skills and a strategic mindset. Familiarity with data science tools like Python, Amazon SageMaker, GAMS, AMPL, ILOG, and AIMMS is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work across various levels of detail, from analytics and statistics to systems design, and possess excellent collaboration and influencing skills to drive value across multiple teams and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain advanced data models and curated datasets that support the Castrol Data ecosystem, ensuring alignment with the Data Modelling Framework.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Digital Operational Excellence, Technology, and business units to understand data requirements and translate them into scalable data models.
- Support the deployment and continuous improvement of the MLOPS environment, including tools like PySpark Pro and Gurobi, to facilitate advanced analytics and data science initiatives.
- Translate complex analytical insights into actionable business recommendations, ensuring data quality, consistency, and accessibility.
- Participate in the development of analytics dashboards and proof of concepts using PowerBI and other visualization tools.
- Contribute to data governance practices and promote best practices for data management and security.
- Support the growth of data science capabilities within the team and across the wider organization, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
- Engage with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership, to influence data strategy and promote data-driven decision-making.
