Data Protection Engineer

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and maintain

  data protection policies and procedures

  aligned with ISMS controls
• Manage

  data classification, discovery, retention, archival, and destruction

  processes
• Implement and support

  DLP / MIP solutions

  (Microsoft Purview, Forcepoint, Symantec/Broadcom)
• Monitor data access, usage, and DLP alerts; investigate and respond to incidents
• Perform

  security audits, risk assessments, and vulnerability assessments

• Support

  incident lifecycle management

  using tools like ServiceNow / JIRA
• Ensure compliance with

  DPDP, GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS

  frameworks
• Collaborate with IT, Legal, Risk, and Business teams to prevent data breaches
• Maintain

  backup, recovery, and disaster recovery plans

• Stay updated on

  AI-related data protection and privacy risks

• Prepare MIS, dashboards, and trend analysis reports
  

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge of

  data protection, data privacy, and information security

• Hands-on experience with

  DLP / MIP tools

  (Microsoft Purview, Forcepoint, Symantec)
• Understanding of

  Microsoft Information Protection labels, policies, and scanners

• Knowledge of

  privacy and compliance regulations

  (DPDP, GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS)
• Experience with

  incident response, ticketing systems, and SLA adherence

• Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills
  

Nice to Have:

• Exposure to

  CASB, SWG, Email Security tools

• Experience with

  cloud platforms

  M365, AWS, Azure, GCP
• Reporting skills using

  Excel, Power BI, Tableau

• Scripting knowledge (

  PowerShell / Python

  )
• Certifications:

  Security+, SC-400, SC-900, CISSP, CISM, OEM DLP certifications
