We are seeking a high-impact Lead Data Modeler to spearhead enterprise-grade data modeling and migration initiatives. The role will drive end-to-end schema strategy, canonical data standards, and modernization of legacy Oracle/Sybase estates onto Oracle Exadata underpinned by real-time replication via Oracle GoldenGate and scalable, Medallion (Bronze/Silver/Gold) lakehouse patterns. You will partner cross-functionally with architecture, engineering, and business stakeholders to deliver resilient, future-proof data assets that accelerate analytics and AI use cases.
Key Responsibilities
Data Modeling Leadership
- Own conceptual, logical, and physical data models for priority domains; enforce modeling standards, naming conventions, and data contracts.
- Design Medallion-layered models (Bronze raw ingestion, Silver conformed/cleansed, Gold semantic marts) optimized for performance, lineage, and reuse.
- Govern dimensional (star/snowflake) and 3NF models; define SCD strategies, surrogate keys, and conformed dimensions.
Migration & Modernization
- Lead discovery, assessment, and schema conversion from Sybase/Oracle to Oracle Exadata; rationalize objects, resolve incompatibilities, and right-size storage/partitioning.
- Define cutover strategies (phased vs. big-bang), data backfill, and reconciliation plans with measurable success criteria.
- Engineer GoldenGate topologies (unidirectional / bi-directional) , handle DDL replication, conflict detection/resolution, and near-zero-downtime migrations.
Performance, Quality & Reliability
- Establish partitioning, compression, indexing, and statistics strategies tailored to Exadata (smart scan, storage indexes, HCC).
- Implement data quality SLAs (completeness, accuracy, timeliness) with automated validation, profiling, and exception workflows.
- Optimize pipeline latency and query performance; conduct capacity planning and cost/performance trade-off analysis.
Governance & Security
- Define data domains, ownership, stewardship, and lifecycle; champion metadata, lineage, and catalog hygiene.
- Partner with Security to enforce masking, RBAC/ABAC, and regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR/CCPA/PCI as applicable).
- Stakeholder Management & Enablement
- Translate business requirements into canonical models and reusable semantic layers.
- Mentor data engineers/analysts; socialize modeling patterns, reusable templates, and best practices.
- Produce high-fidelity documentation: ERDs, lineage maps, DQ rules, and runbooks.
Required Qualifications
- 9+ years in data modeling and data engineering within enterprise environments.
- Proven track record migrating Sybase and Oracle workloads to Oracle Exadata at scale.
- Hands-on expertise with Oracle GoldenGate (architecture, parameterization, trails, conflict handling, monitoring).
- Strong command of Medallion architecture and lakehouse patterns; ability to operationalize Bronze/Silver/Gold with clear SLAs and contracts.
- Advanced SQL and PL/SQL; deep knowledge of normalization/denormalization, SCD types, surrogate keying, and data vault/dimensional trade-offs.
- Performance tuning on Exadata (partitioning, parallelism, optimizer hints, HCC, smart scans).
- Experience defining data quality rules, reconciliation controls, and audit frameworks.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, requirements translation, and documentation skills.
Preferred/ Nice to Have
- Exposure to Databricks or Spark for lakehouse implementations; Delta Lake concepts (ACID, Z-Order, OPTIMIZE, VACUUM).
- Experience with Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) or comparable ELT tooling.
- Familiarity with Kafka or other streaming platforms for CDC fan-out beyond GoldenGate.
- Working knowledge of data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Purview).
- Proficiency with CI/CD for data (dbt, Liquibase/Flyway, Git-based workflows).
- Background in regulated industries (FSI, healthcare, telecom) and associated compliance regimes.
