About the role
Crunchyroll is growing and changing, presenting unique challenges and opportunities to support millions of anime fans around the world. The Data Engineering team provides seamless help to our internal stakeholders, ensuring an exceptional experience for all Crunchyroll fans.
We are seeking a Data Analyst with strong SQL skills and experience in dashboard development, data governance, and analytics. The ideal candidate will work closely with stakeholders across the organization to turn raw data into actionable insights, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and compliance. You will play a key role in optimizing reporting frameworks, building data visualizations, and supporting data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write efficient, optimized SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyze data from relational databases (e.g., RDS, Snowflake, Databricks).
- Develop, maintain, and enhance interactive dashboards and reports using BI tools such as Tableau, Looker.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance by implementing best practices in data validation, lineage tracking, and documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define key metrics, create standardized reporting frameworks, and improve data accessibility.
- Support ad-hoc analysis to answer critical business questions and drive strategic decision-making.
- Partner with data engineering teams to improve ETL/ELT pipelines, ensuring clean and structured data for analysis.
- Monitor and analyze cloud and database usage costs, identifying opportunities to optimize query performance, storage, and infrastructure costs.
- Work with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into data-driven insights and reports.
- Implement data governance best practices to ensure compliance with privacy, security, and regulatory requirements.
About You

- Bachelor s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or analytics roles.
- Strong SQL skills with the ability to write complex queries, optimize performance, and work with large datasets.
- Experience with dashboarding and BI tools (Tableau, Looker, Power BI, or Mode).
- Understanding of data governance, data cataloging, and compliance best practices.
- Familiarity with ETL/ELT workflows and experience working with data engineers on pipeline improvements.
- Experience with cloud cost monitoring tools and optimizing query performance and storage costs.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen eye for data accuracy and visualization best practices.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Good to Have:
- Experience with cloud data platforms such as AWS Snowflake, or Databricks.
- Familiarity with Python for data analysis.
- Experience working with data cataloging and metadata management tools ( Alation, Databricks Unity Catalog).
