Job Summary:

We are looking for a compassionate and proactive Counsellor with a background in healthcare to guide patients through their treatment journey in our ophthalmology hospital. The role involves explaining procedures, building patient trust, supporting conversions for surgeries, and ensuring overall patient satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interact with walk-in and OPD patients to explain eye conditions, diagnosis, treatment plans, and surgery options.
• Educate patients and their families about various ophthalmic procedures, including cataract, LASIK, retina, glaucoma, and other treatments.
• Assist in converting consultation cases into surgical bookings by providing confidence, clarity, and reassurance.
• Coordinate with doctors, optometrists, and operation theatre teams to ensure smooth patient flow and scheduling.
• Maintain records of patient consultations, surgery bookings, and follow-ups in hospital software or registers.
• Handle queries and concerns from patients courteously and promptly
• Follow up with patients who have been advised surgery or advanced treatment but have not yet booked.
• Provide financial counselling if required (e.g., cost explanation, EMI, insurance tie-ups).
• Help in pre- and post-operative counselling, including instructions for eye care.
• Support front office and reception teams during peak hours if needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Graduate in any discipline (preferably in Life Sciences, Psychology, or Social Work).
• Additional certification in counselling or hospital administration is a plus.
• 5 years of experience in patient counselling, preferably in eye hospitals or multispecialty clinics.
• Excellent communication skills in English and regional language(s).
• Empathetic, polite, and confident in interacting with patients from all backgrounds.
• Familiarity with hospital management systems or EMR software.
• Ability to work in a team and coordinate with medical/non-medical staff.
