Consulting Engineer

Job Description

Role & responsibilities : • Provide day-to-day operational support, including maintenance and resolution of high-priority incidents and problems across network and security domains. • Operate and maintain LAN/WAN infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime. • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to switching, routing, and network connectivity. • Conduct installation, configuration, and support for Cisco switching platforms including Cisco 3750, 4500, 4900, and 6500 series. • Administer and maintain Cisco Meraki wireless networks and associated controllers. • Perform hands-on Cisco ISE (Identity Services Engine) operations: • Manage internal/external CA certificates. • Configure EAP-TLS, HTTPS, and SCEP-based authentication. • Execute software upgrades, patches, and high-availability setups. • Integrate ISE with Active Directory, LDAP, and MDM solutions. • Plan and manage deployments of switches and Wi-Fi infrastructure, including Aruba switches and wireless solutions. • Support advanced networking setups including load balancers (preferred). • Analyze bandwidth requirements and system dependencies to support capacity planning and scalability. • Provide recommendations to L4 engineers or subject matter experts on improvements and upgrades. • Evaluate third-party vendors and network services for quality and performance improvements. • Maintain comprehensive documentation and ensure effective communication with internal stakeholders and end-users. Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities: Essential Hard Skills: • Strong experience in enterprise network operations, including LAN/WAN, switching, and wireless technologies. • Proficiency in Cisco and Aruba networking environments. • In-depth knowledge of Cisco ISE and its integration in enterprise environments. • Familiarity with network authentication protocols and best practices. • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with attention to detail. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Skills: • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Required/Recommended • Cisco ISE Specialist Certification – Optional but preferred • Additional vendor certifications (Aruba, Fortinet, etc.) – Added advantage
