Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Radiologist to join our Radiology department. The successful candidate will be responsible for interpreting a wide range of diagnostic imaging, supporting clinical teams in diagnosis and treatment planning, and contributing to the training and development of junior staff. Subspecialty interest in [e.g., breast imaging, MSK, interventional radiology] is desirable but not essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and report on a wide range of radiological investigations, including X-rays, CT, MRI, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy.
  • Perform and supervise interventional procedures as required (if applicable).
  • Provide expert opinions to referring clinicians and participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting in accordance with hospital standards.
  • Participate in quality assurance, audit, and peer-review activities.
  • Supervise and mentor junior radiologists, registrars, and radiographers.
  • Support the implementation of new imaging technologies and techniques.
  • Maintain high standards of patient care, safety, and confidentiality.
  • Contribute to on-call and out-of-hours radiology services as required.
  • Participate in continuing medical education (CME) and maintain professional licensure and accreditation.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
  • Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR) or equivalent board certification.
  • Completion of recognized specialty training in radiology.
  • Registration with the relevant medical council (e.g., GMC for UK, IMC for Ireland, etc.).
  • Minimum [X] years of post-specialty experience (preferred but may vary by setting).
  • Subspecialty interest or fellowship (optional): [e.g., Neuro, Breast, MSK, Interventional].
