Job Description:

AG&E is looking for a dynamic full-time Connection Engineer who is responsible for designing steel connections using specialized software. The ideal candidate has ~5 years of experience and a deep understanding of structural behavior, structural limit states, load paths, and varied connection concepts for different (complex) framings that we encounter on project basis. The position involves using technical knowledge and abilities to solve problems and develop innovative solutions.
Responsibilities:

Analyze and design steel-steel connections by considering the project contract drawings including the plans, section details, connection design criteria, procedures, analysis and results based on project, company, fabricator standards and procedures.
Effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient and accurate connection design.
Prepare detailed connection calculations and drawings (using software like Revit or AutoCAD) for the detailers, client and fabrication team.
Closely work with structural engineers, fabricators, detailers to resolve design issues and ensure constructability, as the project moves forward.
Ensure that design and details are prepared and transferred to the detailers in a clear and timely manner.
Ensure accuracy of work and adhere to company standards and procedures.
Ability to improve skills, problem solving and share knowledge.
Be adaptable to change in updated codes, learn new software, and new methods/analysis of designs.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s in civil engineering and a master’s in civil engineering majoring in Structural Engineering.
Knowledge of US design codes, such as AISC, in Design of Steel Structures.

Software:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially spreadsheets (skill with Macros is a plus).
Knowledge of RISA connection and IdeaStatica.
Working knowledge of SDS2 and RAM Connection is a plus.
