Computer Lab Monitor

The Computer Lab In-Charge is responsible for the overall management, maintenance, and supervision of the computer lab. This includes ensuring all systems and equipment are functional, supporting students and staff in their use of the lab, managing lab schedules, and maintaining security and safety protocols.
1. Lab Management:

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the computer lab.
• Maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and functionality of the lab environment.
• Monitor and enforce lab rules and usage policies.

2. Technical Support:

• Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software.
• Troubleshoot system and network problems.
• Coordinate with IT department/vendors for major repairs or upgrades.
• Perform regular maintenance and updates on all systems.

3. User Support:

• Assist students and faculty in using computer systems, software applications, and equipment.
• Provide basic training or guidance on lab software and tools.
• Maintain user logs and system usage statistics.

4. Inventory & Asset Management:

• Keep an up-to-date inventory of all hardware, software licenses, and accessories.
• Recommend upgrades or replacements of equipment.
• Ensure the security of all lab resources and prevent misuse or theft.

5. Administrative Duties:

• Schedule lab usage and coordinate with faculty for academic requirements.
• Prepare reports on lab usage, incidents, and maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with institutional policies and IT protocols.

Qualifications:

• Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Experience: 1–3 years in a similar role preferred.
• Skills:
• Proficiency in Windows/Linux operating systems and networking basics.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage time and multiple tasks effectively.

Working Conditions:

• May involve extended hours during exams or lab-intensive periods.
• Regular interaction with students, staff, and faculty.
• Physical ability to move equipment or perform basic hardware maintenance.

Preferred Certifications (Optional):

• CompTIA A+ / Network+
• Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP)
• Any other relevant technical certifications
