CNC Turning Programmer

Job Summary: We are looking for a highly skilled CNC Turning Programmer who can independently program, set up, and operate CNC turning centers to manufacture precision components. The candidate must be proficient in reading engineering drawings, creating CNC programs, selecting appropriate tools, and ensuring parts meet quality standards. Key Responsibilities: Create CNC programs for turning operations using CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Esprit, or manual G-code programming). Set up CNC turning machines, including chucking, tooling, offsets, and workpiece alignment. Operate CNC lathes (2-axis or multi-axis) to machine components as per specifications. Optimize cutting conditions (feeds, speeds, depths of cut) to maximize tool life and productivity. Read and interpret mechanical drawings with tolerances and GD&T. Perform first-off and in-process inspection using precision instruments (micrometers, vernier calipers, dial gauges, etc.). Adjust programs and machine settings as needed to maintain part accuracy and process stability. Conduct minor machine maintenance and keep work area clean and organized. Collaborate with production and quality teams to improve processes and resolve machining issues. Maintain documentation and records as per ISO / AS9100 or company standards. Required Skills & Qualifications: ITI / Diploma / B.Tech in Mechanical or related field. Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in CNC turning programming, setting, and operation. Proficiency in CNC controls such as Fanuc, Siemens, or Mitsubishi. Strong understanding of machining practices, tool selection, and cycle time optimization. Ability to machine various materials including stainless steel, tool steel, aluminium, and nickel alloys. Capable of working with tight tolerances and critical dimensions. Good knowledge of surface finishes, thread cutting, grooving, and boring operations. Ability to work independently and ensure high standards of quality and efficiency. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with multi-axis turning centers, live tooling, or sub-spindle machines. Exposure to aerospace, defence, oil & gas, or automotive precision components.
