Operate basic machining equipment such as CNC/VMC, lathe, milling, drilling, grinding, etc. under supervision.
Load and unload components, tools, and fixtures as per work instructions.
Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for machine start-up, running, and shutdown.
Assist senior operators in setting up machines, tools, and fixtures.
Ensure the correct job program, tool offsets, and work offsets are used (for CNC operations under guidance).
Monitor machine operations and report abnormalities immediately.
Perform basic quality checks using Vernier calliper, micrometre, height gauge, dial gauge, and gauges.
Verify dimensions with reference to drawings and control plans.
Record measurements in inspection formats and maintain traceability.
Maintain daily production reports and machine logbooks.
Update rejection and rework records.
Follow documentation procedures as per ISO standards.
Follow all safety rules in the shop floor.
Maintain cleanliness around the machine as per 5S standards.
Participate in safety audits and housekeeping activities.
Perform routine machine checks (oil levels, coolant level, air pressure, tool wear).
Clean machines and tooling as per maintenance checklist.
Report machine issues to maintenance or supervisor.
Learn machine-programming basics (if in CNC/VMC environment).
Understand engineering drawings, GD&T basics, and machining processes.
Participate in on-the-job training programs and improve skills.
Coordinate with supervisors, quality inspectors, and fellow operators.
Follow production schedules and meet daily targets.
Communicate material shortages, tool breakage, or process issues quickly.
