Job Description

Role & responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement annual audit plans based on risk assessment and organizational priorities.
  • Lead and execute audit engagements including operational, financial, and compliance audits.
  • Design audit procedures and testing methods to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of internal controls.
  • Identify, assess, and document areas of risk within the microfinance operations.
  • Provide recommendations for mitigating risks and improving internal controls.
  • Monitor changes in regulations and industry standards to ensure compliance.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive audit reports to senior management and the audit committee.
  • Communicate audit findings, risks, and recommendations effectively to stakeholders.
  • Follow up on audit findings and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Supervise and mentor audit staff, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Manage audit projects, including resource allocation and project timelines.
  • Evaluate and improve existing audit processes and methodologies.
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline processes and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Ensure audits are conducted in accordance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes impacting microfinance.
  • Liaise with external auditors, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders as necessary.
  • Foster a culture of transparency and accountability within the organization.

Preferred candidate profile:

  • Graduate from a reputed college
  • Masters degree/ MBA preferred, but not mandatory
  • 6-10 years of relevant experience in Audit for MFI.
  • at least 2-4 years in a managerial role
  • Well versed with audit software, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint, MS Word
  • Extensive knowledge of audit principles, practices, and regulatory requirements.

  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with senior executives and Board members.
