Job Description

skilled and detail-oriented Chemist

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Blending & Production Support

  • Plan, execute, and monitor

    lubricant blending operations

    as per the approved formulations and batch instructions.
  • Ensure correct proportions of base oils, additives, and performance enhancers are used during blending.
  • Maintain blending records and ensure adherence to production schedules and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with the production team to ensure smooth workflow and optimal utilization of resources.

2. Quality Control & Testing

  • Conduct

    testing of base oils, additives, and finished lubricants

    as per BIS/ASTM/ISO standards.
  • Perform tests like

    viscosity, flash point, pour point, TBN, TAN, water content, density,

    and

    appearance

    checks.
  • Analyze deviations in test results and recommend corrective measures to maintain product consistency.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments and testing equipment regularly.

3. Research & Development Support

  • Assist in

    developing new lubricant formulations

    or improving existing ones for better performance and cost efficiency.
  • Evaluate and validate alternative raw materials and additives through laboratory testing.
  • Collaborate with R&D and technical teams for product performance analysis and documentation.

4. Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate

    test reports, batch records, and calibration logs

    .
  • Ensure compliance with

    ISO, BIS, and environmental standards

    related to lubricant manufacturing.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing and presenting technical documentation.

5. Safety & Housekeeping

  • Ensure strict adherence to

    plant safety norms and chemical handling procedures.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant laboratory environment at all times.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Education:

    B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
  • Experience:

    24 years of hands-on experience in

    lubricant blending, formulation, and quality testing.

  • Strong knowledge of

    ASTM/BIS testing standards

    for lubricants and base oils.
  • Familiarity with laboratory instruments such as viscometers, flash point testers, and moisture analyzers.
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with production and quality teams.
