Job Description

Role Overview: As the Chief Process Advisor, your primary responsibility will be to advise on detailed checkout, precommissioning activities, heater and reactor circuit dryout, catalyst and/or adsorbent loading, startup, initial operation, and testing of the unit. You will also provide instruction and direction to the operating staff. Your overall on-site responsibility will be to ensure that the commissioning, startup, and initial operations services provided by UOP are fully executed. Key Responsibilities: - Compare and evaluate the specifications of the supplied equipment with those specified in the UOP Schedule A Package, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, and various UOP Standard Specifications and Drawings before the completion of construction. - Provide direction for the development and implementation of a precommissioning program, including activities such as hydrostatic testing, water flushing, leak testing, pump and compressor run-in, refractory dryout, high-temperature field tests, inspection, catalyst loading, and instrument loop checking. - Review and evaluate the startup schedule, offer advice on possible improvements, and provide operating instructions to Operations and Engineering staff to ensure knowledge of UOP procedures for startup, normal operations, shutdown, and emergency situations. - Advise customer's engineers and operators to achieve a smooth startup, issue daily instructions to shift-working Process Advisors, and aim for a smooth continuous startup from feed introduction to on-specification products. - Advise on the daily operation of the unit, recommend adjustments to optimize unit performance, establish process guidelines for a successful performance test, and conduct a detailed study of the unit, including calculations of product yields and catalyst activity/selectivity. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field. - Minimum of 10 years of experience in process engineering, commissioning, startup, and operations of process units. - Strong understanding of process optimization, troubleshooting, and performance testing. - Excellent communication and leadership skills to provide instructions and advice to operating staff and customer's engineers and operators. - Experience with similar process units to avoid pitfalls during startup and optimize unit performance.
