What You Need To Know About This Career Option
Admission ProcessThe applications are invited 1 year in advance for these courses. The examinations are held twice a year May & November.
- Enrolment for the CA Foundation course after 10+2.
- Enrolment for Intermediate course (at this stage even graduates can join directly)
- Register as an articled clerk with a practicing CA for undergoing practical training and as a student with Board of Studies ICAI for theoretical education.
- Intermediate exams after 12 months of training.
- Final exams after completing Intermediate.
- Membership of ICAI after Passing Final Exams
- Professional Practicing CA.

- CA - Foundation Course
- Eligibility: 10+2
- Clearing CPT and IPCC
- CA - Articleship (3 years)
- Final Course Exam
- Total Duration - 5-6 Years
Eligibility
Completion of Foundation Course and pass in Foundation Exam or, Commerce graduates with more than 50% or, Non-commerce graduates with mathematics as one of the subjects and 60% of total marks or, Non-commerce graduates other than mathematics with minimum 55%. Duration: 12 monthsCandidates who have successfully completed their class 12th can apply for the CPT (Common Proficiency Test) course. CPT is the stage-I to enter in the CA career. Students from any background (Arts, Commerce, Science) are eligible for CPT. After successfully qualifying in the CPT exam, one can enter ICAI ( Institute of Chartered Accountants of India).A candidate needs minimum 100 marks out of 200 in CPT to qualify for IPCC (Integrated Professional Competence Course). The candidate then has to appear for the IPCC exam and score at least 50% and above marks in each subject to qualify the exam.Once the candidate cleared IPCC successfully, she becomes eligible for the internship of at least 3 years under a certified CA. This internship is called an Articleship where the candidate learns about the basics of handling accountancy in a professional way.During the last six months of the Articleship, the candidate can apply for CA final course exam. Once she clears the final exam and secures a rank under All India Merit list, she will be designated as a Chartered Accountant (CA).Only Approved Institute for Chartered Accountants in India.
