Please be advised that, effective 1 April 2026, the full-time working hours for all Agenda for Change posts will be reduced to 36 hours.An exciting opportunity has arisen within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Alcohol and Drug Recovery Services for a Charge Nurse to join our Inpatient Services on a permanent basis.Applicants should be a first level Registered Mental Health Nurse with practical experience providing nursing care and treatment to individuals with an alcohol and/or drug dependence. Applicants should be able to evidence their continuing professional development with an emphasis on alcohol or drug related care and treatment intervention(s) and demonstrate a strong desire to practice within an inpatient alcohol and drug recovery service.As part of a multidisciplinary team the post holder will have responsibility for assessment of care needs and evaluation of programmes of care ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to patients. In the absence of the Senior Charge Nurse, the post holder will have continuing responsibility for the management of a ward area including supervision and deployment of staff. The post holder will also have an important role in supporting education in the clinical area for undergraduate and post graduate students.The Charge Nurse will support the Senior Charge Nurse in managing a team of Band 5 Staff Nurses and Band 3 Health Care Support Workers. There is no direct financial responsibility with this post; however, the post-holder will be expected to work collaboratively with the Senior Charge Nurse to ensure effective utilisation of resources. This includes supporting the effective deployment of the nursing manpower resource, as well as the effective management of ward supplies.The post holder is operationally responsible to the Senior Charge Nurse and professionally accountable to the Professional Nurse Lead.
