Position Summary

The Charge Entry Specialist is responsible for accurately entering, verifying, and validating medical charges to ensure clean claim submission and timely reimbursement. This role requires strong attention to detail, understanding of medical billing guidelines, and the ability to work independently during night shift operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Enter and review patient charges into the billing system with high accuracy.
• Validate CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and modifier combinations according to payer and coding guidelines.
• Ensure all charges are compliant with client-specific rules and industry standards.
• Reconcile daily charge logs and identify missing or incomplete documentation.
• Coordinate with coding, payment posting, and denial management teams to resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain productivity and quality benchmarks as defined by the organization.
• Process backlog tasks and ensure end-of-day charge completion for night shift workflows.
• Identify recurring issues and escalate them to team leads or supervisors.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and organizational security protocols.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: Minimum 1–3 years of experience in medical billing charge entry (mandatory).
• Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and modifiers.
• Familiarity with RCM processes and US healthcare billing standards.
• Experience working on billing platforms (e.g., Athena, Kareo, AdvancedMD, eClinicalWorks, Epic, or similar).
• Excellent data entry speed and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision during night hours.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Good communication and team collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in multispecialty billing (e.g., Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedics, Surgery, etc.).
• Knowledge of payer-specific billing requirements (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial).
• Exposure to coding audits or quality checks.

Work Schedule

• Night shift timing or Mid Shift
• Weekends/holidays as per business requirements.
