Job Overview

Power Plant Engineer

Key Responsibilities

Operational Management

  • Oversee on and off-shift operations of various boiler systems, including

    CFBC and AFBC units

    , ensuring compliance with SOPs.
  • Facilitate O&M activities using work permit systems, positive isolation, and ESI/ENSAFE safety measures.

Safety Compliance

  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols for protections and interlocks of boilers and turbines.
  • Conduct

    monthly safety meetings

    and

    daily toolbox talks

    to promote a safety-first culture and strengthen 5S practices.

Equipment Management

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with turbines and boilers, especially trip-related problems, in coordination with relevant departments.
  • Prepare boilers for light-up and hydraulic testing; ensure safe startup/shutdown of the plant.

Emergency Response

  • Manage emergencies such as

    blackouts, turbine trips, and boiler trips

    , ensuring prompt and safe resolution.

Project Operations

  • Handle end-to-end project operations including

    planning, resource utilization, operations, maintenance, and manpower management

    .
  • Coordinate interdepartmentally for smooth operations and effective task distribution.

Performance Analysis

  • Analyze generation reports and plan follow-up actions during plant shutdowns.
  • Optimize performance of

    parallel operation controls

    for multiple generation units.

Construction Planning

  • Lead planning and erection of

    utility and cable galleries

    , and installation of utility gas/water supply lines.
  • Oversee lifting schemes, manpower allocation, and alignment with vendor workforces.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain detailed documentation including

    fault analysis, job reports, and operational logs

    .

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline).
  • 6 to 16 years of experience

    in power plant operations/maintenance, ideally in 500 MW or similar capacity units.
  • In-depth knowledge of power generation processes and equipment.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and operational best practices.
  • Proficiency in engineering tools/software.
  • Excellent

    problem-solving

    , communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and manage critical situations confidently.
