Business Analyst

Role & responsibilities

The Business Analyst (BA) in the General Insurance domain acts as a bridge between business stakeholders and IT teams. The role focuses on understanding insurance processes, translating business requirements into functional specifications, and supporting the delivery of insurance solutions across products such as Motor, Health, Property, Travel, and Commercial Lines.

• Gather, analyze, and document business requirements from stakeholders
  
• Understand end-to-end general insurance processes including:
  
• Quotation, Underwriting, Policy Issuance
  
• Endorsements, Renewals, Cancellations
  
• Claims lifecycle (FNOL, assessment, settlement, recovery)
  
• Reinsurance and compliance processes
  
• Translate business needs into:
  
• Business Requirement Documents (BRD)
  
• Functional Requirement Documents (FRD)
  
• User Stories and Acceptance Criteria
  
• Work closely with IT, QA, and Product teams during development and testing
  
• Support UAT (User Acceptance Testing) and defect resolution
  
• Ensure solutions align with regulatory and compliance requirements
  
• Participate in process improvement and system enhancement initiatives
  
• Coordinate with vendors, third-party service providers, and internal teams
  
• Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations for management

Preferred candidate profile

Domain Knowledge

• Strong understanding of General Insurance products:
  
• Motor, Health, Property, Marine, Travel, Liability, etc.
  
• Knowledge of underwriting rules, rating factors, policy lifecycle
  
• Familiarity with claims processing and settlement workflows
  
• Awareness of insurance regulations and compliance standards
  

Technical & Analytical Skills

• Requirement elicitation and documentation
  
• Data analysis and reporting
  
• Experience with insurance core systems (Policy Admin, Claims, Billing)
  
• Knowledge of SDLC / Agile / Scrum methodologies
  
• Proficiency in tools like MS Excel, PowerPoint, Jira, Confluence, Visio
