About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst to join our consulting team, working closely with leading General Insurance clients. The ideal candidate should bring a strong foundation in data understanding and insurance domain knowledge to drive digital transformation and data-led decision-making across the insurance value chain.

This is a hands-on, consultative role that requires a structured thinker who can work seamlessly with both business and technical teams to define data and functional requirements, and support delivery through all phases of the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep functional understanding of General Insurance operations across policy administration, claims lifecycle, underwriting, billing, and regulatory reporting.
  • Lead data requirement gathering for projects involving data warehouses, data lakes, and operational data stores.
  • Translate business needs into structured deliverables including:
  • Business Requirement Document
  • Data Dictionaries and Business Glossaries
  • Source-to-target mappings, transformation logic, and data validation rules
  • KPI-Dimension Matrix and ETL Strategy
  • Design and maintain conceptual and logical to support insurance systems.
  • Normalize and de-normalize data structures, define hierarchies, and incorporate business semantics into model design.
  • Perform data profiling, validation, and SQL-based analysis to support requirement definition and quality assurance.
  • Work with developers and data engineers to ensure models are implemented correctly and optimized for performance and usability.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of overall experience in IT or Consulting, with a strong focus on Insurance Business Analysis and Data Modelling
  • Strong understanding of one or more of the following insurance processes
  • Policy Lifecycle (Issuance, Renewals, Cancellations)
  • Claims Lifecycle (FNOL, Adjudication, Settlement, Recoveries)
  • Underwriting & Risk Assessment
  • Commission & Distribution Management
  • Billing
  • Regulatory and Statutory Reporting
  • Proven experience with data projects, including requirement gathering, transformation logic, mapping, and validation
  • Expertise in SQL for data analysis and transformation
  • Knowledge of data warehouse, ODS, and data lake architectures
  • Familiarity with both modelling techniques like Normalization etc.
  • Exposure to Agile and Waterfall delivery models
  • Excellent documentation, stakeholder management, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications (Good to Have)

  • Experience working on insurance core systems like Guidewire etc.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements in the insurance industry (e.g, IFRS 17)
  • Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS or Azure etc.
  • Basic familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI,
  • Insurance certifications (e.g., LOMA, III) are a plus
