Blood Bank Technician

Role & responsibilities

collecting, processing, testing, and storing blood and blood components to ensure a safe and adequate supply for transfusions and medical treatments

• Donor Screening and Phlebotomy:

  Assess potential donors for eligibility and safely draw blood using sterile techniques.

• Blood Processing:

  Separate whole blood into components like plasma, red blood cells, and platelets.

• Testing and Analysis:

  Conduct blood typing, antibody screening, and infectious disease tests to ensure compatibility and safety.

• Quality Control:

  Monitor and maintain the quality and integrity of blood products, equipment, and laboratory processes.

• Record Keeping:

  Maintain accurate records of donors, blood products, test results, and inventory.

• Inventory Management:

  Oversee the stock and proper storage of blood and blood components.

• Compatibility Testing:

  Perform crossmatching tests to ensure donor blood is compatible with patient blood before transfusion.

• Patient Care:

  Monitor vital signs of donors during procedures and provide post-donation advice.

• Safety and Compliance:

  Adhere strictly to safety protocols, quality assurance, and regulatory standards to prevent contamination and ensure a safe working environment.

• Must have knowledge about Aphresis Procedure.

Preferred candidate profile

Must have knowledge about Apheresis Procedure.

Must have Bachelor Degree OR Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from a reputed Institute.
