Blood Bank Technician

Role Overview: You will be responsible for receiving and processing specimens, interpreting and reporting results, maintaining laboratory equipment, inventory, and quality control programs. Additionally, you will assist in stock checking, inventory control, and maintaining harmony in the department. You will also learn new techniques in the field of transfusion medicine and ensure compliance with quality assurance, laboratory safety, and accreditation activities. Key Responsibilities: - Receive and process specimens, including quality control specimens. - Interpret and report results, dispatch reports to the report dispatch area. - Archive and discard specimens as per protocol. - Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment, perform cleaning, maintenance, and calibration on laboratory equipment. - Perform quality control procedures to comply with regulations. - Report equipment malfunctions to the consultant and take proactive steps to address them. - Maintain, file, archive, and destroy records and documents as per guidelines. - Assist in stock checking, inventory control, and indent. - Learn new techniques in the field of transfusion medicine. - Assist the Technical Supervisor/Consultant Transfusion Medicine for the smooth running of DTM. - Update and authenticate all records as required. - Monitor reagents for expiry and ensure appropriate disposal. - Follow health and safety guidelines. - Coordinate with the Technical Supervisor to keep the blood bank ready for inspection. - Assist the Consultant in daily Blood Bank activities as directed.
