Job Summary: The Bakery Sous Chef supports the Head Chef or Pastry Chef in leading the bakery team, ensuring the preparation of high-quality baked goods. This role involves production planning, quality control, team supervision, and maintaining hygiene and food safety standards. Key Responsibilities: Assist in planning, preparing, and producing all bakery and pastry items, including bread, cakes, pastries, and desserts. Supervise and guide bakery staff to ensure consistency and quality. Ensure recipes and portion control are followed strictly. Innovate and test new recipes and seasonal bakery items. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the bakery section. Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards. Coordinate inventory management – ordering, receiving, and storing ingredients properly. Train and mentor junior chefs and bakers. Monitor equipment maintenance and report any faults or safety issues. Requirements: Diploma or degree in Bakery/Patisserie or Culinary Arts. 3–5 years of experience in a bakery, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role. Strong knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and modern presentation. Good leadership, time management, and communication skills. Ability to work under pressure and maintain high standards. Preferred Skills: Creativity in recipe development and presentation. Familiarity with dietary trends (e.g., gluten-free, vegan baking). Basic knowledge of kitchen budgeting and cost control.
