Job Description

As a Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for operating and managing the pastry section of the kitchen. Your role will involve liaising with the executive and sous chefs to ensure a successful working environment. You will prepare ingredients, handle baking and other kitchen equipment, and create pastries, baked goods, and confections following a set recipe. Developing new recipes for seasonal menus and decorating pastries and desserts to ensure beautiful presentation will be part of your key responsibilities. Additionally, meeting with customers to plan custom-made desserts for special occasions and monitoring the stock of baking ingredients will be crucial. You will also be in charge of ordering new supplies, ingredients, and equipment within budget, ensuring adherence to safety and health regulations, and supervising and training staff members when needed. Key Responsibilities: - Operating and managing the pastry section of the kitchen - Preparing ingredients, handling baking equipment, and creating pastries following set recipes - Developing new recipes for seasonal menus - Decorating pastries and desserts for beautiful presentation - Meeting with customers to plan custom-made desserts - Monitoring stock of baking ingredients - Ordering new supplies, ingredients, and equipment within budget - Ensuring kitchen section adheres to safety and health regulations - Supervising and training staff members as required Qualifications Required: - High school diploma - Post-secondary training at a culinary institution - Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking, or relevant field - 2 or more years experience in the food industry as a Pastry Chef, Baker, or relevant role - Working knowledge of baking techniques and pastry-making process - Creative ability and artistic skill in decorating cakes and desserts - Attention to detail - In-depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation, and nutrition - Flexibility to work weekends and evenings in a fast-paced production environment In addition to the above responsibilities and qualifications, this full-time, permanent role offers benefits including food, health insurance, life insurance, and paid sick time.
