Backup Administrator

Direct Responsibilities:

• Install and configure Networker client agents and storage nodes for new client servers.
• Configure Filesystems, RMAN, SQL, and NDMP backups, ensuring integrity of index and bootstrap backups.
• Perform regular backups of critical data and test to verify recovery capabilities
• Manage backup schedules and ensure compliance with data retention policies
• Configure and manage backup and recovery systems and processes
• Manage Data Domain systems, optimizing storage and replication processes
• Monitor backup systems and troubleshoot issues as they arise
• Conduct infrastructure reboots during maintenance, managing volumes, pools, and jukeboxes effectively.
• Maintain accurate documentation of backup and recovery procedures and policies
• Develop disaster recovery plans and participate in executing those plans when necessary
• Work with IT team and key stakeholders to establish data retention and archival policies
• Direct analysis of business requirements to implement automated backup solutions
• Monitor tape usage, coordinating media management for tape destruction and expedited delivery for critical restores.
• Collaborate with vendors to troubleshoot software and hardware issues, optimizing backup strategies for capacity planning.
• Prepare detailed reports on backup performance and recovery metrics for management review

Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology or a related field

2+ years of experience in backup and recovery administration

Working knowledge of backup and recovery tools such as Networker, Commvault, Veritas, or similar.

Experience with disaster recovery planning and execution
